The American Gas Association, founded in 1918, represents 197 local energy utility companies that deliver natural gas to more than 56 million homes, businesses and industries throughout the United States. The Common Ground Alliance, is a member-driven association dedicated to ensuring public safety, environmental protection and the integrity of services by promoting effective damage prevention practices. The association has established itself as the leading organization in an effort to reduce damages to all underground facilities in North America through shared responsibility among stakeholders. Since inception, the CGA has grown to over 1,200 individual members, 135 member organizations, and 25 sponsors.

The mission of the National Association of State Fire Marshals is to protect lives, property and the environment from fire. Its primary focus is on preventing fires from occurring in the first place. NASFM encourages manufacturers to make consumer products as fire-safe as possible, and works to educate individuals to be careful with ignition sources.
